Aline Smithson explores how an unusual doll finds his fit in the world. HUGO is a man, not a boy, too real for the world of toys and too strange to be owned by a child. The thought of spending hours as a child with Hugo is the unsettling subject she decided to explore.
Catharine Stebbins tells us that a chance explosion while reheating leftovers in the microwave inspired this work. BLOW UP pays homage to science, the field of systematic discovery.
Cindy Schafer asks herself, “Where Am I? Who Am I?” while awakening memories of life on the farm as a sort of gentle reminder of the calm we feel when nature is all around us.
Enrique Ahumada introduces his Women In Windows. Real women for a split second, as in a dream. A very exciting dream where the most secret desires take their own pictures.
Gianina Ferreyra takes us into The Garden where dreams are found.
Jaqueline Truong shows nudes that represent the grace and beauty, which a simple form can become. The contours and lines hint at another time and place.
Jim Marx freezes time in Metaphor 4×4 to keep moments that otherwise would have been missed and juxtaposes images in a reflection on the human experience.
Jim Starks, Jr. makes creative use of Venetian carnival masks in part one of his new series Distortion through Masks.
Rico Mandel presents From the Earth, a series of images exploring the textures, curves and sensuality of the plants we grow for food.
Shay McAtee goes Backstage to document the behind-the-scenes hustle and bustle, anxiety and excitement, of a performance by a local ballet company.
Susan Gast enters the One Room, hanging portraits that explore the mystery of emotion and place. The images are bathed in a surreal wash to reveal the reality of the subject’s life.
